This week Bogotá became one of the key gathering points for Latin America's tech ecosystem. As part of Colombia Tech Week, Bord joined forces with Buk to host a side event on the rooftop of B.O.G Hotel.
The idea was simple: create a space to connect with founders and leaders from the region, step away from agendas, pitches, and presentations for a while, and make room for more spontaneous conversations.
And that's exactly what happened.
A rooftop, Bogotá, and a lot of companies thinking about growth
Throughout the afternoon, we gathered with 35 founders and leaders from different companies to talk, share experiences, and connect with the people building and scaling businesses across Latin America.
One challenge kept coming up in the conversations — one we know well at Bord: growth also means making operations increasingly complex.
Adding headcount, entering new markets, or starting to work with distributed teams brings new opportunities, but also a lot of operational questions.
How do you equip someone who's in another country?
How do you maintain visibility over every device across your entire team?
What happens when a laptop fails, needs to be recovered, or reassigned?
Who handles coordinating all of that when the company operates across different markets?
These topics often feel secondary — until the team starts to scale.
Technology also needs operations that can keep up
One of the key takeaways from gatherings like this is that behind every company's growth, there's a lot of infrastructure that doesn't always get seen.
The experience of an employee who receives their laptop on time, an IT team that knows where every device is, or a People team that can onboard someone in another country without coordinating multiple vendors — all of that is part of that infrastructure.
